Thursday 14th December - Cantobre - Millau Viaduct

Thursday 14th December - Cantobre - Millau Viaduct

Lionel takes Peggy to Millau so she can go swimming, and then Lionel, Midge and I got to see the largest Viaduct in the world .
The Millau Viaduct.
Peggy Midge and I walk down to the main road and Lionel comes down later in the car to pick us up.
A view from the road leading up to Cantobre
Peggy and Midge wait for me as I take a photo of Canobre

 The Cantobre village.
Can you see Lionel waving from the Balcony just to the right of the mushroom rock.
the left hand end of Cantobre village.
Almost Blue sky above the village.
First view of viaduct , but weather not good . it  is middle left hand view.
Down below the viewing platform in the valley you could see Vultures spiralling in the thermals. I circled them in yellow .
On full zoom you can just make out the viaduct. We were going to drop Peggy off at the swimming pool down in the Town to our right and then Lionel Midge and I were going to go to the top of the hill in the centre of the picture at the right hand end of the Millau Viaduct.

As you walk up to the viewing platform there is a monument to the viaduct builders.

Unfortunately what little sun there was it was right into my face.

If you want to know some facts about the Viaduct.
 Incredible engineering

Walking back to our car parked in the car park below you can see the monument to the builders.
Driving up to the pillars

Almost underneath the viaduct.

Beautiful design in apparently the best concrete.
 Directly underneath the Viaduct.

Driving away back home.

We stopped off on the way back to pick Peggy up from swimming  in a supermarket and I had to buy some of the local tourist stuff to consume tonight,
On the left "Gateau a la Broche", in the middle "Banyuls" which is a sweet wine which actually tastes like port. And on the right the "Galette des Templiers" which are a nice light biscuit.

We had to have a toast before our dinner because it was the 8th year anniversary of Lionel and Peggy buying their house in Cantobre.
We ate the Gateaux al la Brioche, it was like a moist almond biscuit, Lionel turned it into a Darlec before we finished it.
